Sir, Watching tennis on television I witnessed with sadness the death of etiquette at Wimbledon. Our supposed new hero, Andrew Murray, clenched his fist to the crowd after some unforced errors of his opponent. The naive crowd began to cheer what never used to be cheered on the Centre Court.
It is poignant because tennis was always exempt from such gamesmanship.
Murray may find future foes will be insulted into trying doubly hard.

Sir, Surely it is only a matter of time before Henman Hill is re-christened Murrayfield.

From Mr Geoff Corre
Sir, Your report (June 25) on the reaction of the people of Dunblane to English support for Andrew Murray reminds me of an inscription on a family heirloom which proudly proclaims “British by birth, Scottish by the grace of God”.
