Michael Moore, the documentary maker, faced a barrage of jeers and boos at the Republican National Convention in New York last night.
Moore laughed and waved from the upper levels of the hall as he incurred the wrath of delegates after the Arizona Senator, John McCain, spoke of the “disingenuous” film-maker, and criticised him for opposing the Iraq war.
Moore hopes that his recent documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 will help oust Mr Bush from the White House in November.
The film broke box office records in the US, becoming the first documentary to earn more than $100 million.

As the crowd chanted in unison for “four more years” of Mr Bush, Moore tipped his hat, raised his fingers and replied “two more months”.
Moore, who was wearing a dark red hat bearing the Stars and Stripes flag, got into the convention with a media messenger pass.
He was earlier denied access to the floor area and escorted away by Secret Service agents and convention security officials who said he had the wrong credentials. He is at the convention to write a column for USA Today.
Mr McCain told the delegates, at Madison Square Garden, that Moore “would have us believe that Saddam’s Iraq was an oasis of peace”.
Rather, Mr McCain said: “By destroying his (Saddam’s) regime we gave hope to a people oppressed”. The senator has notably clashed with President Bush over policy issues in the past.

“I had no idea he was sitting there,” Mr McCain said after the speech. Mr Moore later responded: “I can’t believe they’re dumb enough to mention the film and help it at the box office.”
