Moore Barlow acts in high-value personal injury cases, including for a client who obtained a £20 million settlement. The client was the passenger in a car whose driver lost control and went into a barrel roll. The driver died and the client was severely brain damaged. The driver’s insurers alleged that the client had failed to wear a seatbelt and knew that the driver was over the drink-drive limit. Despite this, the firm agreed a settlement with a lump sum of £3.6 million and periodic payments estimated at £16.8 million over the client’s remaining life.

The firm also achieved a £9 million settlement for a girl, now nine years old, who developed cerebral palsy as a result of negligence arising from the circumstances of her birth. It was alleged that if her mother had been properly advised about the risks and benefits of a vaginal birth compared with a C-section, she would have opted for the latter. The hospital accepted that it was 80 per cent liable for the injuries.

Commended for family; personal injury & clinical negligence
