Here’s a movie to make you careful what you tell your work colleagues.
You’re my work colleague.
I know. Have you slept with the president?
No.
You’ll be OK, then.
Is this something to do with Monica Lewinsky then?
It is. Amazon Studios is reported to be producing Linda and Monica, about the scandal that broke 20 years ago next year.
Bit before my time. Remind me.
Monica Lewinsky was the White House intern who had an affair with President Clinton. Linda Tripp worked with her at the Pentagon and became her confidante.
Was she a good listener?

She was. And she taped her phone calls with Lewinsky in which they discussed the affair. She also advised the younger woman not to clean a blue dress stained with the president’s semen. The dress would become key evidence in the investigation of the president — proof that Clinton was lying when he denied having sexual relations with “that woman”.
Nice friend.
Tripp then went to the investigators looking into other Clinton scandals and arranged to meet Lewinsky in an FBI sting in which agents apprehended Lewinsky.
Why did she do this?

She claimed she was worried about being put under pressure to lie if she was ever called to give evidence in a separate sexual harassment suit brought against Clinton. But many believed she was out to get Clinton, who became the subject of an investigation into whether he had committed perjury by lying about his relationship with Lewinsky. He was impeached but acquitted by the Senate, while Lewinsky had her life ruined. She told a grand jury: “I hate Linda Tripp.”
And Tripp?
Last heard of running a year-round Christmas shop. Anyway, how are things with your boyfriend?
Excuse me, but I need to take some dresses to the dry cleaners.
