A man who made a televised appeal for information about his missing parents has been accused of murder after their bodies were found concreted into a wall in the family garage.

Ingo Placzek, 25, and his new wife Stephanie, 22, were arrested in Schnaittach near Nuremberg. The parents had objected to the young couple’s plans to marry. Mr Placzek reported them missing on December 28, although he told police he had last seen them 15 days earlier. He married Stephanie the next day.

Post-mortem examinations showed that Peter Placzek, 70, and his wife Elfriede, 66, died from blows to the head.

Mr Placzek also set up a crowdfunding appeal to help the search for his parents. He claimed that they had packed to go travelling but police found no sign of any bookings.

Die Welt reported that police had found bloodstained personal items belonging to the couple buried in the garage. The bodies were wrapped in plastic and the walls and furniture had allegedly been repainted.
