This firm for wealthy individuals hit the headlines this year when it was reported that the ITV presenter Phillip Schofield had hired it to represent his former partner, a runner at the network, with whom he had an affair that led to his resignation.

Elsewhere, the firm acted in an oil case in which an award of £11.1 billion was made against the government of Nigeria. The case between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a shell company, Process & Industrial Developments, concerned an oil and gas contract that was secured after alleged fraud and bribery of senior legal representatives and key officials.

At the start of this year Mishcon de Reya merged with Taylor Vinters, a technology and innovation specialist law firm. More than 200 of its staff — including 145 lawyers and 60 operational staff — joined the business, boosting Mischon de Reya’s legal tech offering with the launch of Mishcon Future.
