Mike Ashley has staged a secretive raid on shares in Goals Soccer Centres, the chain of five-a-side football pitches.
Large blocks of shares changed hands last Thursday and Friday, according to market sources. Ashley’s Sports Direct retail empire is expected to be confirmed as the buyer in a stock exchange announcement tomorrow.
Sports Direct already held 3.8% of Goals, which recently announced a tie-up with Manchester City’s parent company to support large-scale expansion in America.
