Michelmores’ work this year has included advising on an innovative partnership between the World Wide Fund for Nature and Tesco — as part of a consortium led by the agricultural consultancy ADAS — to develop plans to accelerate the use of insect protein in UK animal feeds.

Other highlights include acting for the recipe-box company Mindful Chef on its initial crowdfunding activity, subsequent investment by Piper Private Equity and the sale of a majority stake to Nestlé.

The practice, which has bases in Exeter, Bristol, London and Sidmouth, also advised the Soros Economic Development Fund on its acquisition of Mologic, which develops lateral flow and rapid-testing technology. The highly complex deal was supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
