Schott NYC Perfecto leather jacket £495, leather Gloves £30, hat £16 (Stockist 0207 436 0986)

Since its creation the original Schott Perfecto biker jacket has been donned by bad boys such as Marlon Brando and Sid Vicious. The latest starlet to be seen in it is Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson. The vamp of the moment has been papped brooding in his leather Perfecto. First made in 1928, the Perfecto is a slice of heritage biker history. Furrow your eyebrows and join the cool kids – possibly coupling it with Schott leather gloves and beanie.

Tateossian Italian leather samurai bracelet £135 (www.tateossian.com or 0207 384 8317)

Tateossian jewellery might be slightly pricey, but their handcrafted products have an arty homespun look. They count among their fans David Furnish, Elton John, Jenson Button, Stephen Moyer, and apparently the King of Denmark and the Emir of Kuwait. What’s good enough for the King of Denmark and Emir of Kuwait is good enough for me.

Cufflinks to cure cancer £19.99 (www.shoptobeatcancer.org.uk or 0845 009 6549)

These swirly blue bullseye cufflinks are rhodium plated, have signature findings and are hand finished in England. More importantly 100 per cent of the profits go to Cancer Research UK, so you can look stylish and make the world a better place all at once.

Ti-Bridge watch by Corum £8,500 (www.corum.ch or 01932 574 652)

The Ti-Bridge won second prize at the Watch of the Year 2009 event organised by Ringier Romandie and Montres Passion magazine. This goes some way to justify the price tag of £8,500 – but, well, prize-winning watches don’t come cheap.

Brat and Suzie snake t-shirt £22 (www.bratandsuzie.com or 07900 435 126)

Brat and Suzie do quirky illustrations on t-shirts and vests for the achingly hip. The label is a collaboration between designer Polly Vickery and illustrator Louise Boulter. Having featured already in Topshop and Joy as well as smaller outlets around the UK, it is a brand to watch.

NFL t-shirt £29 (www.pop-store.co.uk)

If, like me, you saw the USA as the coolest place on earth as a child you may have dallied with supporting an American basketball, hockey or NFL team. During those insincere days I chose to support the 49ers who were at the top of the league at the time. Their triumph, I fancied, reflected well on me. Ever since then San Francisco have been decidedly average, which I regard as a form of punishment for having leapt on the cool bandwagon. Nevertheless, things have now come full circle as supporting an underdog as an adult is rather cool and I can now wear the 49ers red and gold again with pride. Embrace failure with these great t-shirts from Pop store.

Orange watch phone £500 (www.orange.co.uk/watchphone)

Who on earth did not want a telephone watch when they were a kid? I personally wanted a watch that also acted as a television and I couldn’t understand why every birthday my parents wouldn’t buy me one. The fact that it wasn’t invented yet now seems like a very good excuse.

At last, at long long last the watch phone exists. Limited numbers of the Orange watch phone are being made available to those who register their interest online. Priced at £500 on Orange pay-as-you-go, it looks great and has satisfying functionality. While it may not be perfect for everyday use (most people want to be able to bring their phone easily to their ear rather than use speakerphone or a headset for all their calls) it makes for a stunning alternative for nights out trying to impress colleagues, friends or dates. A must for gadget lovers.

Jinga trainers £39 (www.lovethoseshoes.com or 0161 975 5380)

Lightweight shoes in a rainbow of colours which promise to “bring the carnival spirit of Rio to your feet”. Jinga claim that the shoe is so light it has the feeling of being barefoot while giving the “added protection” of wearing a shoe. This reviewer hasn’t actually tried them so can’t comment, but the styling is great, and being made entirely from synthetic materials, the company also promises that they are suitable for vegans. Though I would recommend you enjoy them with HP sauce.

Puma Ubiq trainers £75 (www.hanon-shop.com or 01224213452)

The Puma Ubiq collection is a tribute to Philadelphia’s iconic Veterans stadium. While that stadium may not be quite as ‘ubiq’ on this side of the Atlantic the shoe’s striking colours and detailing sell themselves.

Painted striped Bjorn Borg trunks £19 (www.stand-out.net or 0844 884 9618)

Underwear that is so wrong that it is right, when you are wearing these there really will be a party in your pants wherever you go.

Knomo man bag £130 (www.knomo.com or 0800 043 7924)

I am semi-reliably informed that Richard Branson wears one in blue and Samuel L. Jackson goes for the black version. Knobo’s Saxby is a coated canvas bag that can take a 15” laptop along with whatever other kit you want to jam into it. It is both water and dirt-repellent too according to the press release. I wish my flat were more dirt-repellant.

Victorinox blazer £399, hoodie sweatshirt £110 (www.victorinox.com)

Known primarily for their brilliant Swiss army knives Victorinox also have an excellent line in stylish menswear. This blazer / hoodie combination is the perfect fare for wiling away long winter nights in a pub nursing a beer with some good mates.

Front Elvis blue suede shoes £75 (0208 773 7851)

Who hasn’t wanted blue suede shoes for the very purpose of warning people off stepping on them? Front shoes are affordable and built for comfort. The neat stitching adds a nice detail to an otherwise elegant and affordable shoe. Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh, Honey, lay off of my shoes.

Cache Col scarves £65 (www.cachecoluk.com)

Half collar, half neck brace, these reversible wool and cashmere scarves look fantastic. Cache Col UK, a designer men’s label, bring French chic to the UK streets. Head designer Julius James said he found inspiration on a recent trip to Paris: “I was struck by the flair and elegance of French neckwear. I’ve combined French panache with a British sense of timelessness and durability in a line of men’s scarves that is refined and sophisticated, yet relaxed and casual.” It worked.

Glasses for people with 20/20 vision £25 (www.specsavers.co.uk or 0800 068 0241)

These Edd frames from Specsavers are so cool that I have taken to occasionally wearing them even though I don’t actually need glasses. I flatter myself that I am starting a new trend - my friends say I am just being an idiot. Still, everyone who has tried them on agrees that their face looks better with them. At £25 with free single vision scratch resistant Pentax lenses, it seems a small price to pay. The world of fashion will appreciate how right I was long after I am gone.
