The Lord Chief Justice was present at a service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Lord Scarman on Wednesday at the Temple Church. The Rev Robin Griffith-Jones, Master of the Temple, officiated, assisted by the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster.

Lord Justice Scott Baker read the lesson and Mr Conrad Dehn, QC, read So Many Different Lengths of Time by Pablo Neruda.

Lord Bingham of Cornhill gave an address.
