Memorial service

Brigadier D. V. Nicholls, RM

A service of thanksgiving for the life and works of Brigadier David Vernon Nicholls, RM, was held on Friday at the Church of St Alban, Commando Training Centre, Royal Marines, Lympstone, Exmouth, Devon.

The Rev Dave Devenney, RN, officiated, gave an address and read the prayer of the Royal Marines, assisted by the Rev Scott Rae, RN, who led the prayers.

Major David Chisnall, RM, and Major-General Gary Robinson, Commandant General Royal Marines, read the lessons.

Miss Sophie Nicholls, daughter, read All is Well by Canon Henry Scott Holland.

Lieutenant-Colonel Pat Parsons, Captain John Barry, Mr Nick Haddock, Major-General David Pennefather, RM, paid tribute.

Last Post and Reveille was sounded by two buglers from the Band of HM Royal Marines Commando Training Centre. Among others present were:
