EMAP’S lads’ mag Zoo is set for international expansion. Two years after the launch of Zoo Weekly in the UK, the media group will launch an Australian version of the weekly mens’ magazine next week, backed by a £6 million investment. Emap is aiming for a circulation of about 75,000 within its first six months. The Australian edition of Zoo will be edited by Paul Merrill, launch editor of Zoo in the UK, and is the second international version of the title after Zoo Siete was launched in Spain last year. Emap is looking at other international launches but sources at the group say the US market may be a bit conservative for Zoo.
