British talent once again took centre stage as Stella McCartney’s father was on the front row during Paris Fashion Week yesterday.
There were some fantastic waist-accentuating skirts, and little black dresses from McCartney in which huge sections had been removed and replaced with sheer polka-dotted tulle, above right.
The collections had Sir Paul on his feet at the finale.
There was also plenty that was tight, black and breast-flashing in Giles Deacon’s collection for the Emanuel Ungaro label. Yet buried within this sometimes questionably sexed-up set was the odd flash of brilliance.
Chloe’s British designer Hannah MacGibbon mixed python skin print with real python skin in a show that rivalled Indiana Jones for snakiness.

Away from the reptile house there was a huge rainbow patchwork poncho, wide-as-you like flares, crêpey, floaty dresses and some ultra-chic blouse and wide-pant ensembles.
