Live here means what it says: no multiple takes from repeat performances, and applause included. Argerich gives a typically invigorating reading, with the violinist Renaud Capuçon and the cellist Gautier Capuçon, of Haydn's G major Piano Trio (the "Gipsy Rondo"), and joins fellow pianists Lilya Zilberstein and Giorgia Tomassi in Rachmaninov's Six Duets, Op 11, and a fizzing account of Lutoslawski's Paganini Variations.
If Gautier Capuçon and Gabriela Montero are a touch too frenetic in the outer movements of Grieg's A minor Cello Sonata, the readings by both brothers of Arensky's D minor Piano Trio, Op 32, and Franck's Piano Quintet, with other soloists, are more considered. A third CD documents a deliciously outrageous late-night closing concert.
