Mansfield Town offer a bit of value at 11-5 with Ladbrokes to beat visitors Preston North End in the first round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday evening.
Although two divisions separate the teams, Mansfield will be the happier with their present form, coming into the game on the back of a 2-1 home success against Kidderminster on Saturday.
Even Jan Molby, the Kidderminster manager, was moved to acknowledge how well Mansfield had played, and how many chances they had created.
Preston, without star striker Ricardo Fuller, who has recently joined Portsmouth, could not find a way past ten-man Sheffield United on Friday evening, going down at home to the only goal of the game. They certainly missed Fuller as they laboured to work many openings of note, especially as they ran out of steam in the second half.
For those backers who fancy Preston to make their superior league status count there is plenty of 11-8 available, with totesport best at 12-5 about the draw.
