Majestic Wine, the beer and wine wholesaler, said that a surge in demand for fine wines helped it to gain a 10 per cent lift in full-year profits. Pre-tax profits in the year to March 27 came in at £14.5 million, on a 6 per cent lift in turnover to £172.2 million. The company benefited from demand for wines from Burgundy, Spain, South Africa, Chile, New Zealand and Argentina, while champagne and ros? wine also turned in a strong performance.
