Marvel’s superheroes are riding to the rescue of Blackpool’s tourist industry.

Merlin Entertainments, the theme park and attractions operator, announced a £1 million investment to create a Marvel-themed area at its Madame Tussauds waxworks on Blackpool seafront. Among the characters to feature in the Marvel Superheroes area will be Thor, Hulk and Spider-Man.

Merlin, which also runs Blackpool Tower and a Sea Life venue in the Lancashire resort, runs 111 attractions around the world, including several Legolands and Dungeons.
