The actresses, who had not met before, posed nude for the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue with open-shirted designer Tom Ford. They were carefully arranged by the photographer Annie Leibovitz to ensure that some things are left to the imagination.
Oscar-nominated Knightley, 20, sits sideways, showing off her pierced belly button, while 21-year-old Match Point star Johansson is more exposed — readers who open the fold-out cover will see her bare buttocks. After she and Johansson kissed each other goodbye, Knightley said with a smile: “Lovely to meet you. I’ll see you again some time . . .
