LONDON’S only fair for original works on paper featuring watercolours, drawings, prints, posters, paper sculpture and photography, is to be held at the Royal College of Art from February 2-5.
At The Art on Paper Fair, more than 52 international dealers will present a diverse range of works which have been vetted for authenticity. Newcomers include Gwen Hughes with Modern British, Arts Republic from China and Hasta Siempre from Spain. Reflecting the strength of the art market, the fair has a fresher look this year and almost all the work is from the 20th and 21st centuries. Prices range from less than £100 to many thousands.
With work on paper less expensive than oils, this is an opportunity to acquire examples by well-known artists at more accessible prices. Henry Moore’s drawing of a statuesque nude from 1926 and a Rothenstein gouache of Oak Ridge Farm are two such pieces. Other Modern British artists to feature include Prunella Clough, Cecil Collins, Jacob Epstein, Terry Frost, Naum Gabo, John Piper and Graham Sutherland.

Recent luminaries are represented by a 1971 signed lithograph by Gilbert & George and works by Tracey Emin and Patrick Caulfield. A screenprint by the infamous graffiti artist, Banksy — real name Robert Banks — entitled Kate, offered at £4,000, is a take on the Marilyn image by Warhol.
There is a selection of work by artists from St Petersburg’s Academy of Fine Arts, the most respected art school in Russia. From China, revolutionary posters are offered alongside traditional watercolours by Jiang Chao.
