Sir, The interview with Stella Creasy (Aug 22) included the detail that she had become the favourite in the campaign for the deputy leadership of the Labour party, while Jeremy Corbyn remained favourite for leader.
At a time when Labour should be looking to re-establish its traditional support, particularly in Scotland and the north of England, surely it should be questioned how wise it would be to elect both a leader and deputy leader who represent constituencies in London — Mr Corbyn for Islington North and Ms Creasy for Walthamstow. In many parts of the country there is already a distrust of Westminster politicians who look at national issues from the prism of London. This is notably illustrated in the success of the SNP. For the party to become so seemingly London-centric would surely make the task of reclaiming the party’s traditional heartlands that much harder.
