Small yet perfectly formed is the only way to describe the new C1100 from LG. The Korean giant seems to be aiming big by keeping things simple and the C1100 offers a pared down clam-shell option for those tight on space and cash.

But looks have not been compromised for cost and this tiny, 80g, dual-band still offers a full-colour screen, animated graphics and GPRS and e-mail access. Battery life is an impressive 190 hours.

Verdict: Good starter phone
