Appointments
Andrew David Levey has been appointed a circuit judge, assigned to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Bromley County Court, with effect from May 6, 2011. Judge Levey, 52, was admitted as a solicitor in 1983. He was appointed as a deputy district judge in 1999 and as a district judge in 2003.
Isabel Anne Lloyd-Jones has been appointed a district judge, assigned to the Midland Circuit, based at Nottingham County Court, with effect from May 5, 2011. Judge Lloyd-Jones, 54, was admitted as a solicitor in 1983 and was appointed as a deputy district judge in 2004.
Retirements
Paul Maxim Laurence Hoffman retired as a circuit judge on March 31, 2011. Judge Hoffman, 68, was called to the Bar (L) in 1964. He was appointed as an assistant recorder in 1978, as a recorder in 1985, as a circuit judge in 1991, and as a legal member of the Restricted Patients Panel in 2001. He served as resident judge and honorary recorder of York from 1999 until 2007.

Charles Edwin Frederic James retired as a circuit judge on March 31, 2011. Judge James, 67, was called to the Bar (I) in 1965. He was appointed as an assistant recorder in 1977, as a recorder in 1982 and as a circuit judge in 1993.
Christopher Robert Hodson retired as a circuit judge on March 31, 2011. Judge Hodson, 64, was called to the Bar (L) in 1970. He was appointed as an assistant recorder in 1984, as a recorder in 1988 and as a circuit judge in 1993, serving as resident judge for Coventry and Warwick since 2007.
John Bertram Stuart Diehl, QC, retired as a circuit judge on March 31, 2011. Judge Diehl, 66, was called to the Bar (L) in 1968 and took silk in 1987. He was appointed as an assistant recorder in 1980, as a recorder in 1984 and as a circuit judge in 1990. He served as designated civil judge in South Wales and was appointed as resident judge for Swansea in 2000.
