Richard John Byerley Parkes, QC, has been appointed a circuit judge, assigned to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Reading Crown Court, with effect from November 17, 2009.

Mr Parkes was called to the Bar (G) in 1977 and took Silk in 2003. He was appointed as an assistant recorder in 1999 as a recorder in 2000 and as a legal member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Restricted Patients Panel) in 2007.
