The lead actor in an amateur production of a musical hid miniature cameras in a changing room used by young girl dancers.

Lee Rawstron concealed three spy cameras the size of key fobs in a waste basket at Brixham Theatre in South Devon where he was starring as Bill in Me and My Girl.

The cameras were found by a 19-year-old dancer, who was acting as a chaperone, when she threw away a chocolate wrapper. He had filmed the girls, aged between 14 and 16, in their underwear. Police discovered images on his computer. He had also hidden a tiny camerain the women’s toilets.

Rawstron, 35, a graphic designer, had been seen leaving the girls’ dressing room moments before the bugs were spotted. He inadvertently filmed himself as he planted the cameras.

Rawstron, from Paignton, admitted four offences of voyeurism at Exeter Crown Court. He was ordered to attend a sex offenders’ course as part of a three-year community order.

Judge Phillip Wassall said Rawstron’s claim to have intended to film only the 19-year-old made no difference to the seriousness of the offence.

“You made the images of the chaperone because you fantasised about her,” the judge said. “You used these images for your sexual gratification.”
