Sir, Why pick on drivers age 75 plus for the mooted “cognitive” tests (report, Feb 8)? If these are supposed to be a measure of ability to drive, then why not apply them to all drivers, or especially the under-25s, the age group which has been noted as the most accident prone?

Sir, Those of us who toddle dangerously around our highways and byways in our Honda Civics are to be tested for our cognitive skills.
I trust that the next groups to be targeted will be aggressive middle-aged drivers in their Mercedes and BMWs followed by girl and boy racers in their Golfs and Subarus.

Sir, Any 75-year-old who needs 100 seconds to circle the Es and Fs in the sample test is not unfit to drive.
He or she is dead.
