A criminal lawyer has been found stabbed to death at his home in a suspected domestic incident soon after returning from honeymoon in Las Vegas.

David Edwards, 51, was discovered at his home in Chorley, Lancashire, with a single stab wound to the chest on Sunday evening. A 42-year-old woman, understood to be his wife, Sharon, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Mrs Edwards has four children of her own.

The couple got engaged in December and married at a civil ceremony in Chorley in June. They then went to Las Vegas for their honeymoon, where they are thought to have renewed their vows at a wedding chapel, before returning home last week.

Photographs from their trip showed the couple smiling at each other at the Little White Chapel Tunnel of Love, a drive-through wedding chapel where couples can renew their vows.

Mr Edwards, a keen fisherman and football fan who spoke three languages, had practised law for 26 years, specialising in criminal defence work in Chorley, Leyland Blackburn and Burnley. He had just been made redundant.
