Kyoto and clean power

Sir, The Kyoto Protocol becomes legally binding today. The Government has the chance to demonstrate its commitment to generating clean electricity by removing the ball and chain it has imposed on our nuclear industry, and to support the building of new nuclear power stations as it supports other carbon-free generation methods.

With more than 430 nuclear power stations operating around the world and another 36 under construction we risk being left behind in an industry where we were once leaders.

Yours faithfully,

ROBERT FREER,

14 Alleyn Crescent, SE21 8BN.
