Rangers will be without playmaker Niko Kranjcar for Sunday’s opening Ladbrokes Premiership fixture against Motherwell at Fir Park (Ewing Grahame writes). He and James Tavernier, the full back, have picked up injuries during pre-season matches.
Kranjcar made just 15 appearances last season before suffering cruciate ligament damage and his influence on the team makes his latest absence a cause for concern.
“We have two casualties,” said manager Pedro Caixinha. “James and Niko are not available for us. James has a foot injury and Niko a hip injury. James had to come off during the game against Watford and Niko did it against Sheffield Wednesday but these are supposed to be short-term problems.”
