Kidnapping ‘jokes’ of Becky Watts couple

The couple accused of murdering Becky Watts joked about kidnapping “pretty schoolgirls”, a court heard yesterday. Becky’s stepbrother, Nathan Matthews, 28, and Shauna Hoare, 21, exchanged text messages in which they discussed taking girls back to their “attic”.

Analysis of two mobile phones could not determine which of the pair had used which phone. Three months before Becky’s killing a text message from one of the phones said: “F*** you bring me bak 2 pretty schoolgirls den.”

A reply, later the same day, said: “Lol yeh I’ll just kidnap them from school.”

Bristol crown court heard that Matthews and Ms Hoare had used text messages and Facebook to share their fantasies in November and December last year, two months before Matthews killed Becky in her bedroom.

He told police he was acting alone and that his stepsister had died when an attempt to punish her for her conduct towards his mother — Becky’s stepmother — went wrong. Becky was stabbed and dismembered before her body parts were wrapped in cling film and stored in a shed.

Matthews has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denies murder and conspiracy to kidnap.

Ms Hoare denies all the charges against her.

The trial continues.
