Sir, Admiral Sir Alan West tells us that we have a long battle ahead against terrorism (report, July 9), but neighbouring nations similar in terms of economy, living standards and welfare (such as those in Scandinavia) have minimal terrorism or immigration problems. It would be instructive therefore to look to their experience.
We may find that their leaders do not strut their stuff on the world stage, are little interested in legacy and are concerned above all with the safety of their own citizens. It is not too late to adopt a similar approach and perhaps save many British lives.
