The University of Glasgow’s dental school has set a Guinness World Record by using staff and schoolchildren to form the biggest smile.

A total of 756 people, including students and workers from dental practices, wore red and white ponchos to create the lips and teeth of a giant smile.

The event at the SEC Glasgow, which marked national smile month and highlighted the importance of oral health, took place in June. It has now been verified by Guinness World Records.

Jeremy Bagg, head of the dental school, said that the event took two years to plan. “The promotion of oral health, particularly in children, is an important message to get across,” he said. “We hope that our record-breaking event has been both fun and educational.”
