Just Eat, the takeaway delivery service, took more orders in Ireland than in its home market of Denmark and Norway combined in the first six months of this year.

Adrian Blair, the company’s chief operating officer, told stock market analysts that the Irish market was growing at more than 30% a year.

The growth of the fast-food delivery company, which has been promoted by model Thalia Heffernan, has exceeded the expectations of its management.

In a conference call with analysts following the company’s interim results, Blair recalled talking to Amanda Roche Kelly, the managing director of Just Eat Ireland, when she joined the company in 2012. Blair said it would be “great” if it Just Eat got to the same scale as Denmark, where it was founded in 2001.

The company recently took over sponsorship of the Dublin Bikes scheme.
