The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment (King’s, Lancashire and Border), today received Lieutenant Colonel George Maund upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Robert Driver upon assuming the appointment, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Singleton upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, and Lieutenant Colonel Justin Tancrel upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion.
Brigadier Peter Rafferty (Colonel) was present.
Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.
The Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy and The Duchess of Gloucester were present.

Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.
The Bands of the Scots Guards and The Queen’s Division played selections of music during the afternoon.
The Queen was represented by the Very Reverend John Cairns (formerly Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland) at the Funeral of the Reverend Kenneth MacVicar (Extra Chaplain to The Queen in Scotland) which was held at Kenmore Parish Church, Kenmore, Perthshire, this afternoon.
