July: Join our book club!

Well hello and welcome to our monthly Book Club!

As ever, we want to hear all about the books you can’t put down and the ones you just can’t get through (our advice - don’t persist. Life’s too short and so on). Whichever it is, share your wisdom - everyone knows Times readers have the best taste...

Which is why we’re also inviting you to take part in a discussion with Times writers! A series of journalists are currently tackling Tender is the Night, the autobiographical final novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and will be giving their verdicts throughout the month. To take part, get hold of a copy (click to buy at £7.19 with free p&p), then come back and compare notes with our writers. You can read their verdicts here

Discussing other books last month, Kim McGreal and Ben Machell shared a mutual love of the Game of Thrones books, as the TV adaptation hits our screens, while Sharada Lartet recommended a “fine Victorian novel”, Anthony Trollope’s The Eustace Diamonds - but advised us to skip C.J. Sansom’s The Heartstone. Andrew Hewson also pointed out another to leave on the shelf, finding Sisters by Rosamund Lupton “hollow, sexist and annoying.”

Whatever you’re reading, we’re excited to hear what you think of it.
