The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Canada House, Trafalgar Square, London SW1, to celebrate the One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of Canadian Confederation and were received by the Governor General of Canada (His Excellency Mr David Johnston) and the High Commissioner for Canada in London (Her Excellency Mrs Janice Charette).

Her Majesty, escorted by the High Commissioner, and His Royal Highness, escorted by the Governor General, viewed artefacts and displays celebrating “Canada 150”, listened to a musical performance and met guests including young people, business leaders, entrepreneurs, artists and members of First Nation communities.

The Queen subsequently unveiled a Jubilee Walkway Panel outside Canada House.

The Rt Hon Anne Milton MP was received by The Queen this afternoon when she delivered up her Wand of Office upon relinquishing her appointment as Treasurer of the Household.

Mr Julian Smith MP was received by The Queen and delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office as Treasurer of the Household.

Mr Christopher Heaton-Harris MP was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

The Rt Hon Melvyn Stride MP was received by The Queen when he delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Comptroller of the Household.

Mr Christopher Pincher MP was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Comptroller of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

The Vice-Chamberlain of the Household was received in audience by The Queen and presented an Address from the House of Commons to which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to make reply.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Andrea Leadsom MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Alun Cairns MP (Secretary of State for Wales), the Rt Hon Gregory Clark MP (Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) and the Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP (Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government).

The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP made affirmation as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Theresa May MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning departed from Warsaw Military Airport for Germany and were received upon arrival later at Berlin Tegel Airport by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany (His Excellency Sir Sebastian Wood) and subsequently undertook engagements in Berlin.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon attended a Lunch given by Dr Angela Merkel (Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge afterwards visited the Brandenburg Gate.

Their Royal Highnesses subsequently visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Visitor Centre.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge later visited Strazzenkinder.

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards were received by The President of the Federal Republic of Germany and Mrs Elke Budenbender at Bellevue Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this evening attended a Garden Party given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and Lady Wood at the Residence.
