Josh T. Pearson: Last of the Country Gentlemen

This debut album, comprising seven songs, was recorded in Berlin in the midst of heartbreak

This beautiful, affecting album is not something you would stick on to get the party started. Comprising seven songs, four of them exceeding ten minutes, the debut from the former lead singer of the Texan band Lift To Experience was recorded in Berlin in the midst of heartbreak. Simple guitar lines and occasional strings provide a stark backdrop to Pearson’s haunted voice, which he uses to lay bare his soul. This is the sound of a man using music to exorcise misery and turn it into deep artistic expression. (Mute; out Mon)
