West Bromwich Albion have agreed a fee of £6 million, plus £2 million in add-ons, with Manchester United for the transfer of Jonny Evans. The defender’s move should result in Joleon Lescott joining Aston Villa for an initial fee of £1 million with a potential for another £1 million to be paid.
Lescott, 33, has fewer than 12 months remaining on his deal with West Brom and the boyhood Villa fan’s starting berth looks under threat, with the club close to sealing the deal for Evans.
“It depends how the dominoes go,” Tim Sherwood, the Aston Villa manager, said. “Never rule it out.”
● Everton have completed the signing of Leandro Rodríguez, a forward, from River Plate Montevideo, for a fee in the region of £500,000.
Aberdeen have signed Ryan McLaughlin, the Liverpool right back, on a six-month loan. Samed Yesil, the Liverpool forward, is on the verge of joining Lucerne on a season-long loan deal.

● Watford are interested in Fabio Borini, the Liverpool striker who has been followed by Inter Milan and Sunderland. Jonathan de Guzmán has rejected Sunderland and the Napoli midfielder appears likely to move to Bournemouth.
Norwich City’s £2 million offer for Jonathan Walters, the striker, has been rejected by Stoke City.
● West Ham United want to sign Adem Ljajic on loan but the Roma winger is not sure about a move to east London. West Ham hope to hold talks with Emmanuel Adebayor this weekend as they try to resurrect a deal for the Tottenham Hotspur striker. He rejected a move to Aston Villa after he completed a medical because he wanted to stay in London, much to the surprise of the clubs, who had prepared statements to announce the deal. Adebayor is in the final year of his contract worth £100,000 a week.
Daniel Tozser has joined Queens Park Rangers after he was released by Parma. He was on loan at Watford last season.
● Joe Maguire, the Liverpool defender, has joined Leyton Orient on loan.

Oldham Athletic have signed Simonas Stankevicius, a striker, on loan from Leicester City, from whom Jak McCourt, a midfielder, has joined Port Vale on a temporary deal.
