Eddie Jones has revealed that he will quit as England head coach in 2019, even if he wins the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

In an exclusive interview with The Times, Jones said: “Four years is enough. It is emotionally draining.”

He also backed Dylan Hartley to remain as captain of the national team despite his latest six-week ban, and revealed how he has rejuvenated a side who crashed out of last year’s World Cup at the group stage but have gone on to win all 13 internationals this year.

“Dylan makes one bad decision in a tackle choice and now he is the greatest dunce in English rugby,” Jones said. “It is quite incredible. Dylan loves playing for his country. Let him pay the penalty and get on with it.”
