Sir, Two years ago I played hockey for former pupils of Gravesend Grammar School against the Old Gravesendians. Our left back was 80 years old (letter, June 22) and the right wing 13.

Sir, I am a member of the Geriatric Cricket Club, Exeter, enjoying our 21st season. When we started the criterion was to be over 40; now most of us are over 60 and our wicketkeeper 80. Next year we travel to Barbados for possibly our final tour, on the ground of age.
