James Blunt sold sister on internet

Singer James Blunt has revealed, again, that he once sold his sister, Emily, on the internet. “The stupidest thing I’ve ever sold is my sister, on eBay,” Blunt has told GQ magazine. “I was waiting for my first album to come out and ended up selling pretty much everything I owned on eBay. I had a mild addiction.”

Blunt first mentioned the story when promoting his million-selling debut album, Back to Bedlam. Now back promoting his sophomore effort, he’s at it again. For those of you haven’t yet heard it, here he is describing the time he sold his sister - to a stranger - on an online auction site,

“Anyway, I came back to the flat where my sister was staying and she was crying because she couldn’t get to a funeral in Ireland. The planes were on strike, the ferry was out of season and there were no trains. I ended up whacking it on eBay: ‘Damsel in distress seeks knight in shining armour! Desperate to get to a funeral in Southern Ireland, please help! The bids flooded in and the guy who won had a helicopter. He flew her to the funeral.”

Luckily for Blunt, there is extra mileage in his story: ” That was three years ago, this summer they’re getting married!”

A search on ebay suggests Blunt, then Blount, is no longer a registered seller, but you have got two days to bid for an ‘I love James Blunt’ badge for 99p, plus 60p postage and packaging.
