A medical dictionary is being compiled for doctors whose training has not prepared them for the dialect of the North East and are confused by inflamed trollibags, sore thropples and aching wangs. The Easington Primary Care Trust hopes that a dialect guide will explain these terms and others to confused GPs, particularly newcomers to the region. At a meeting yesterday in Peterlee, Co Durham, people were asked for phrases they might use in a visit to the doctor.
Kite or wame belly
Trollibags intestines
Neb nose
