Is Hollyoaks heart throb Chris Fountain about to launch a music career?

Hollyoaks star Chris Fountain tells Funday about partying with P Diddy and those music rumours

Funday: How did it feel to be nominated for best actor at the National Television Awards recently?

Chris Fountain: I was shocked because I expect to be nominated. I was the first person from Hollyoaks ever to be nominated in that category. To be up against actors from Lost and Doctor Who was an honour. I’m pretty gutted that I didn’t win but I got some big cheers on the night.

Funday: What do you think of your Hollyoaks character Justin these days – is he going off the rails?

Chris Fountain: I’m enjoying playing him more nowadays. He’s getting back to his nasty ways, and I like going into work and playing someone who’s completely different from me. I’m a nice person in real life!

Funday: What would you like to change about Justin?

Chris Fountain: I don’t like his dress sense. He needs to sort out his style! I want to have a word with the wardrobe people to see if they can give him a revamp. I’d like to see him wearing some nice stuff.

Funday: Justin is pretty tight with Sonny Valentine, played by Devon Anderson. Are you mates in real life?

Chris Fountain: Yeah, we live together. When he moved up to Liverpool from London, he needed a place to live, and I have three spare bedrooms in my house, so he moved in. We have a laugh but we keep getting told off for messing about on set.

Funday: What’s the best showbiz party you have been to?

Chris Fountain: I went to P Diddy’s birthday party recently. It was amazing. Kanye West and Kelis were there, and Diddy stood up halfway through the night and said: “Thanks for coming. I’m giving you a gift back – the next thousand drinks are on me.” He ran up a bill of about £40,000!

Funday: Is it true that you are recording an album?

Chris Fountain: After I did Just the Two of Us, there have been stories about me writing my own album, or that I’ve had record companies fighting over me. Obviously, I’d love to do an album but I have not been offered a deal yet.

Funday: Would you take part in a reality TV show?

Chris Fountain: I did get asked to do I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! this year. That’s the only reality show I like. I think being in the jungle would be an amazing experience.

Funday: What’s on your Christmas list this year?

Chris Fountain: I DJ in my free time, so I’d like some CD decks. I’m hoping to get a new car too, but I’ll have to see about that.
