A MAN aged 20 from Armagh has died in hospital after taking the drug ecstasy. Marc John Hill Halpin, 20, of Drumman Park was taken ill at a house in the city. Police warned people who have bought the drug recently to destroy it immediately. Two men aged 24 have been charged with drug possession and will appear in court on Tuesday.

Suspect charged

A MAN, Michael McCarthy, 22, of Killarney, Co Kerry, was charged with assault over the death of Michael Faulkner, 43, on August 23. McCarthy was remanded in custody.

Bombs found

TWO pipe bombs were made safe yesterday evening in a lane off the loyalist Roden Street, near Donegal Road, south Belfast. The devices caused disruption to train services in the south of the city, including the Dublin train.
