You might think that mirrored sunglasses are acceptable only on ski slopes, pilots or George Michael — but you would be wrong. Reflective shades are the surprise hit of the summer, made famous by Instagram. Dior’s So Real glasses, which come in reflective gold, silver and black lenses, are the A-list’s choice. and only a few pairs remain at Harvey Nichols.

Stars including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o all wear the £370 frames, which are a take on mirrored aviator sunglasses and feature a large metal bridge.
Despite their price tag, the frames are in demand from shoppers.
Dior reports that the style sells out globally and there is a waiting list for new releases.
Online searches for the sunglasses have increased by 300 per cent since last year, according to the e-commerce platform Shopbop.

More than 100 pairs of similar styles are stocked on Asos.
The rising popularity of mirrored styles is largely thanks to Instagram: the mirrored lenses are perfect for reflecting a beach or sunset in holiday selfies.
The model Kendall Jenner’s picture sporting a reflective pair by Oliver Peoples at Coachella has garnered more than two million likes on the picture-sharing site.
The most expensive pair available in the UK cost £2,442.32 and feature gold leaf detailing by the brand Gold and Wood.
Men are also buying into the trend. Justin Bieber and Robert Pattinson have been seen in Dior Homme’s reflective Palladium style, which costs £270, and Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt have also worn mirrored specs.

The key to getting it right is to stick to circular frames. Leave the aviator styles for those who actually fly aeroplanes — and George Michael, of course.
