Infamous: First Light

Fetch is a punk girl with neon superpowers

First Light is a downloadable title that explores the origins of Fetch, a punk girl with neon superpowers . These include the ability to turn into light and fly up the side of buildings, or shoot deadly bolts of neon light at enemies. Fans of the Infamous series will recognise Fetch as one of the non-playable characters from last-year’s Infamous: Second Son.

Mainly set in Seattle, the game’s plot follows Fetch after her parents betray her, revealing her outlawed super-powers to authorities. With the help of her brother, Fetch escapes the government forces, but homelessness, drug abuse and bereavement follow, fuelling her rage. The story moves from her past to the present where she is being manipulated into becoming a weapon of destruction by the very military forces who sought to destroy her.

The mission-based gameplay is rather short, but finding and destroying military drones, freeing prisoners and generally blowing everything to kingdom come is a treat. Side missions can become dull due to repetition, but overall a good introduction to this feisty gaming heroine. PS4, £11.99 (16+)
