Ince is one of the world’s premier shipping and maritime firms, with practices covering every angle of the industry. The firm attracts some of the biggest contractual disputes in the industry and its non-contentious practice continues to grow.

It acted for Evergreen Marine, the UK registered owner of the container vessel Ever Smart, which was involved in a collision with another large vessel, Alexandra 1, owned by Nautical Challenge, a company registered in the Marshall Islands. In the first collision appeal to come before the Supreme Court and nearly 50 years after a such a case was last heard by the House of Lords, the court ruled in favour of Evergreen, overturning earlier rulings from the High Court and Court of Appeal.

Evergreen also instructed the firm in relation to the grounding of the Ever Given in the Suez Canal in March, which brought marine traffic to a halt for six days. Another notable matter being handled by the firm in the English courts concerns the vessel Prestige, which broke up and sank off the coast of Spain in 2002.

On the non-contentious side, Ince acted for the gas tanker company Golar LNG on the English law financing part of a transaction valued at about $5 billion.
