Tiddler to watch

Intec Telecom Systems, the AIM-listed telecom billing group, was said to be in preliminary takeover talks with Oracle, the American software group. Intec, which issued a profits warning last week, is seen as “in play”, with several other prospective bidders circling, including Hg Capital, the private equity group. General Atlantic, another private equity firm, holds a 23 per cent stake.

Rumour of the day

The AA, Britain’s largest motoring group, is set for flotation or sale. CVC and Permira, which acquired it in 2004 from Centrica for £1.75 billion, are thought to be debating an exit next year. The deal is set to be one of the largest of 2007, with a target of £3 billion. Likely buyers are other private equity groups or an insurance firm.
