ON-SCREEN CELEBRATION OF THE GREATEST CARS

Barely a spark plug remains unchanged in this new series of DVDs documenting the most fantastic cars from six of the world’s most famous manufacturers. Produced initially for America’s Speed Channel, each DVD concentrates on a single marque and features former racing driver Alain de Cadenet presenting the best cars, telling their histories then driving them very hard for the cameras. Marques included are Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Jaguar, Maserati and Porsche. Each DVD costs £17.99 (including post and package) and is available from Victory By Design (01635 565 093, www.victorybydesign.com)

SENSUAL SCENTS FOR YOUR MOTOR

If you want to keep your car smelling sweet, but think that traffic-light air fresheners are a little too naff for your pride and joy, there is a more upmarket alternative: L’Eau de L’Auto from Parisian perfumery L’Artisan Parfumeur. There are two different fragrances to choose from: Amber for “that warm sensual atmosphere” and Trefles a Quatre Fleurs (four-leaf clover). Presented in a discrete flannel bag with satin lining, the in-car perfumes cost £20 and are available from L’Artisan Parfumeur boutiques, one of which is on the ground floor of Harrods. TYRE CHECKS WHILE YOU DRIVE

Keeping your tyres inflated at the correct pressure is vital for your health and that of your wallet, as tyres run at the wrong pressure wear prematurely. But Tyre Alert can monitor the pressure and temperature of each tyre for you via a special valve that replaces the original air valve. The system transmits the data by radio waves to a dash-mounted display, so you can check each tyre at the press of a button, even while on the move. If the pressure or temperature drops below a preset limit, a warning sounds. The system costs £224.95 (or £244.95 for a five-wheel kit), plus installation at a local tyre dealer.
