Hunters has provided a wide range of services to meet the needs of its private clients since 1715. Due to its nature, much of the work is confidential.

On the domestic front, over the past year its private client team has been engaged in the preparation for a ten-yearly tax charge on a leading UK family’s trust and corporate structures, which hold substantial assets. Although the charge is only 6 per cent, the liability will be more than £100 million.

The team also advised one of the country’s most important landed estates on complex trust matters linked to a £200 million private placement, under which certain estate entities acted as borrowers and others provided cross-guarantees.

Internationally, Hunters continues to provide wealthy individuals and families with advice on cross-border tax planning and the structuring of their domestic and offshore arrangements, particularly in the light of Brexit and the changing needs of families after the pandemic. This includes advising an international family on the resettlement and redomiciliation of a large, trust-held offshore corporate structure and the UK tax implications now and for future generations.
