Hugh James, operating from its headquarters in Cardiff and offices in London, Southampton and Plymouth, specialises in clinical negligence, sexual abuse and personal injury.

The firm secured more than £700,000 in compensation for a former Royal Marine after an eight-day High Court trial. The former serviceman sustained noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus because he was not provided with adequate hearing protection or training by the Ministry of Defence.

It also secured a High Court victory for a Welsh Michelin-starred restaurant in a Covid-19 business interruption case. Following on from a 2021 Supreme Court decision on the subject, this case could expand the number of insurance policyholders who could claim for business interruption as a result of coronavirus.

The firm further expanded with the acquisition of a fellow Cardiff firm and marked its growth with a move from its office of the past five years, Gresham Street, London, to a larger office space at nearby King’s Arms Yard.
